Thursday was our last full day in Nicaragua and was our “off” day. There were three buses (yup, Yellow School Buses) and each bus went to a different place first so that no two groups were at the same place at the same time. Our bus went first to the town of Grenada, which has the oldest Spanish buildings in all of Central America. Take note of the person apparently sleeping up in an opening high up on the church. We went to the open market area and many of us got shirts, wind chimes, and such to take home with us. Then we stopped at Narcy’s Chicken (Pollo Narcy’s) for lunch and as we were leaving, one of the other groups arrived. After a very good lunch came the boat ride on Lake Nicaragua, which has a larger area than the entire country of El Salvador. This lake has freshwater sharks. (we didn’t try to find any.) Then back onto our bus for the trip back to Managua and preparation for our evening program, which is covered in the “Thursday Night” area.
